What is up with Cassia County School Dist?

Well, I just found out that school isn't starting on the 23rd of August like we thought...now it's the 30th. What the heck...do they not realize that some parents were very excited for the 23rd? Also, we downloaded a copy of the school supply list for the 8th grade and it's absolutely ridiculous. When I was in jr high (and some of you may think it was a LONG time ago, but really it wasn't) all we needed were notebooks and pens. Chelsey's list has 23 separate items and several items are multiples. I'm thinking it will cost me $150-$200 just to get her registered and her school supplies bought. So much for free education....and they've raised the rates for the kids to play athletics. It was $50 per year no matter how many sports they played. Now it's $60 for 1 sport, $100 for 2 sports, and $125 for 3. I'm getting tired of hearing about budget cuts and such crap...do they not realize that ALL OF OUR BUDGETS have been cut? There for awhile Gary's paychecks dropped more than 25%, yet everyone and their dog increased prices. Our utility rates went up, groceries went up, everything but the paychecks went up. No wonder we are in a freaking recession! I'm thinking we may never get out, either. Enough of my ranting and raving...I just get so frustrated when everyone thinks the answer is to pass on the budget deficits to the working class people (ENOUGH ALREADY- WE ARE MAXED OUT, TOO!)

A couple of weeks ago, I went to a Stampin' Up party. I left the kids home with Gary and when I got home, they couldn't wait to show me these pictures they had taken while I was gone! Mikayla wanted Brad to come up and hang out for awhile the next day so I told her she had to weed the garden first. Apparently while she was out there, they found this baby....

BIRD!!!!! AAAAAHHHHHHH! Yuck...I so hate birds. It must come from my mother...but it skipped my kids' generation because none of them seem to mind the stupid little things.

Look how ugly it looks...it's eyes are all beady and gross and it's beak is just waiting to peck at someone....I can't tell you how happy I was to be gone that night!

Just a reminder: it is now the first of August so make sure you are creating something that uses some sort of stitching for the new blog hop! Mikayla and I are going to work on ours as soon as Ellie lays down for her nap! I can't wait to see all of the fun things that everyone comes up with!

My Little Hairdressers

We have been putting Ellie's hair into two pigtails for awhile now and Mikayla swore up and down that it was long enough to pull into one ponytail. It looked ok from the back, but the front made her look just like a boy!

After Mikayla finished Ellie's hair, Ellie got ahold of the comb and decided to do Mikayla's hair! The faces that Mikayla was pulling was too funny to pass up photos!!! She was a good sport at least!

Mysterious Rash

A couple of weeks ago, Ellie woke up with this mysterious rash. It pretty much covered her entire body except her face. She had a few little spots the night before, but nothing like this.

I called the doctor and told them she had had a fever a few days earlier (which I attributed to being in the sun too much over the 4th of July weekend) and now she had this rash. I knew it wasn't chicken pox or anything like that, but I had never seen anything like this before in my life.

They got her right in and after looking her over, the dr said it was something viral and he had no idea where it came from or what it was for sure. He told me it would clear up on its own and if they started to itch, give her Benadryl. He also said to watch for signs of trouble breathing or high fever, but other than that, do nothing! I've never been to the dr before when they don't give you medicine whether you need it or not! Weird! Anyway, he was right...within two days the rash disappeared and she was back to normal!

Christmas in July!!

I went to walmart and thought I downloaded some new pictures off my camera. When I got home and loaded the CD, all they had done on it was the fourteen pics I had printed....UGH! So, until I go to town and redownload, I am posting pictures from Christmas that I just found and realized I hadn't posted. Chelsey bought this outfit for her birthday and looked so cute in the red that it went perfect with Christmas!

This is Treven at the Festival of Trees. He looks funny because he is blowing a kazoo! He lost a tooth right before the Festival and I didn't even know it until after he was all through.

For the past several years, Grandpa and Grandma Jones have spent the night on Christmas Eve so they can be there when the kids get up. The kids really look forward to this and start asking around Halloween if G and G Jones are coming for Christmas! Ellie helped grandpa open his stocking!

All of my brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews gather at my mom's house on Christmas Eve. We draw names earlier in the year and we exchange gifts then. We have done this since Brittney and Braquel were babies. It gives the kids a sneak peek into Christmas morning and they love it.

Lindsay and Mikayla have always been close. I think they even look alike in a lot of ways. They are both so good to pose when I ask them to.
