School play and Santa visit

Treven's school did a play called "Santa Gets a New Suit". It was really cute and they did a great job. Everyone gets some sort of part in the play plus they do a little program where they take turns playing instruments and telling jokes and poems. It's always a fun night and the kids enjoy it. After the program, the kids get to see Santa and sit on his lap. They all take home a treat bag filled with little goodies, peanuts, and an orange!

Parent Shopping Night

For the last three years, Abby Dayley and I have been in charge of the PTO at the Albion elementary. Every year around the first of December, we do a parent shopping night. The kids get to stay after school and we play games and do various things until 9:00. Their parents are free to go Christmas shopping with no children. We even invite younger brothers and sisters to come. We ask each child to bring $3.00 to cover the cost of the pizza, but there are a few that can't do it, so we just cover their cost. We have lots of fun, even though I always go home with a headache! Some of the games we played are :marshmallow stuff, wrap the mummy, dress up, rootbeer drinking then burping contest, grab the candy cane, all about me, and we watched the new Santa Paws movie. We ordered 16 pizzas and went through every one of them! We also do an after school snack and popcorn and treats with the movie. It makes for a VERY LONG night, but the kids really look forward to it each year!

Mikayla's photo shoot

Mikayla will be graduating this spring, so senior pictures are right around the corner. We talked to Robin about doing them, but so far, our schedules haven't coincided! One day I got off work and Mikayla happened to be home. I called a friend of ours who has a wonderful old barn and truck and asked her if we could come out and take some pictures. She was thrilled to let us, so we went over and spent an hour or so just playing. I'm nowhere near a photographer, but I was kind of proud of myself on these. The only touch ups that I did was on my camera; color changing and/or zooming in/out. I wish I knew Photoshop better! Anyway, hopefully Robin will be here soon and we can get some real professional ones done before announcements need to go out!

Albion Trunk or Treat

For some reason, I can't get my text to line up with my pictures, so I'm not going to write who is who. I just thought it would be fun to look back someday and see how all the town kids looked when they were little! Anyway, we have been doing trunk or treat for the last five years. We try to start a little earlier since we have so many that take their kids to other towns to visit grandparents. Most of the kids do the trunk or treat and then still walk around town collecting more treats!

Treven's Halloween Costume

This year, Treven fought especially hard, but we finally compromised on a gangster suit. He had a hat, too. I'm not sure why he's not wearing it on Halloween, though. He also had a little plastic tommy gun. Too bad he's too cute to look fearsome!

Ellie's Halloween Costume

I almost always let the kids pick out their own costumes, the only rule is that they can't be anything scary or evil. I'm not a big fan of Halloween, especially the bloody gross side. Treven is the only one who has ever put up a fight about this rule, but I remain firm! Ellie picked Minnie Mouse for her costume this year and she looked adorable!

Anti-Drug Week

I have been over Red Ribbon Week for the past few years. We always try to do different activities and a treat each day along with dress up days. I try to tie the dress up to whatever the treat is for the day. These are the treats that I did this year. The last four pictures (with the severed body parts) were my favorite. I got a great deal on them and couldn't pass them up! I'm pretty sure the kids loved them..not so sure about the teachers, though!

Dinosaur Rag Quilt

One of the girls that works at Peavey was going to have a baby and I wanted to make her a rag quilt. I wasn't really excited about the fabric I chose, but due to time constraints, I went with it anyway. Once it was finished, I loved it! The bright colors looked really neat. Anyway, I took her the gift, and she was so excited! She said she had wanted to make a rag quilt, but didn't know how. I have even seen a few facebook pictures with the baby laying on the blanket!
